70 Weeks Prophecy!
The Death of Stephen in Acts 7 marks the end of Daniel’s 70 Weeks prophecy. Many believe that the final 7 years of Daniel’s prophecy are yet to be fulfilled and mark the time of Jesus’ eminent return. Well, I do believe Jesus will return, but I don’t pretend to know when, nor do I believe there is anything in Scripture which would indicate when this glorious event will take place. I am not smarter than Jesus, and Jesus told us that neither he nor the angels in heaven know when he will return. If there is something revealed in the Scriptures, then I think it is possible for any of us to understand through the guidance of the Holy Spirit. However, if something is not found in Scripture, God has kept this to himself, and it is not ours to try to figure out. It would be like trying to imagine a new prime color. It simply cannot be done. This, as far as I am concerned, is how we should see Jesus’ return to this earth–we simply cannot determine when this will be. We believe it, but it is not in our power to determine when this will occur.
If this is true, what can we understand about Daniels’ 70 Weeks Prophecy? Well, I have made a few studies about this subject, which anyone who wishes to read may do so by clicking on the studies below. I was very surprised to find Daniel was really pointing to Jesus’ first coming and pointed to certain events within his ministry and to a single event 3 1/2 years after his Resurrection. May God bless all who love his word and submit to the Holy Spirit’s leading.

I too agree that the 70 week prophecy ended at the death of Stephen (the first christian martyr). Some teach that the latter 3.5yrs after Christ died will occur after the rapture, as portrayed in the popular movie “left behind” but I don’t see any basis for this in the bible.

Greetings Leonard,
Thank you for reading and especially for taking the time to leave a comment. I agree that it is a modern error that the 3 1/2 years of Daniel’s 70 years prophecy is cut off to indicate the end of our age, just prior to Jesus’ second coming. It is a shame that so many brethren have fallen for this false doctrine, and please don’t get me talking about the “Left Behind” series. They preach fear, and God simply would not leave his children behind. What good parent would leave their children behind–unprotected and uncared for–while they take a vacation? Anyway, I appreciate your stopping by to say hello.
Lord bless,
Eddie
