Caligula and Antiochus Epiphanes

I believe the reign of Caligula, emperor of Rome (37-41 CE), is underrated, as it pertains to the New Testament and the early Messianic movement in Judea. There was a lot happening during these few years in Jewish history that remind me of the period of Antiochus Epiphanes who desecrated the Temple, which gave rise to the revolt of the Maccabees, cir. 168 BCE. The Millennium and the First Resurrection

Revelation 20:5 unveils for us what it calls the first resurrection. Verse-6 says that those who take part in this resurrection:

John said he saw thrones (Revelation 20:4), and they sat (viz. Father and Christ) upon them and judgment (i.e. a decision or verdict) was given (viz. by God) to them, i.e. the souls that John saw. These souls lived (again – i.e. were born again) and reigned with Christ for a thousand years… This is the 1st Resurrection. Read the rest of this entry »

The Millennium and the Bottomless Pit

Archangel Michael tramples Satan
Image via Wikipedia

Satan has been cast into a bottomless pit according to Revelation 20:1-3, but what does this mean? In Revelation 9:1 we find a fallen angel has the keys to the bottomless pit and opened it up. This angel’s name is Abaddon in Hebrew according to verse-11 and means destruction. In the Greek tongue his name is Apollyon meaning a destroyer. We may also take note that the beast came out of this pit to make war with the Lamb (Revelation 17:8-14). Read the rest of this entry »

The Millennium and Reigning with Christ

Revelation 20:4, 6 says the faithful will “reign with Christ for 1000 years.” How does this configure with what we are told in Revelation 22:5, namely that we shall reign forever and ever? If our reign is but for 1000 years, how can that be construed to be forever? This is but another way in which we deny the word of God when we change the words of Scripture to make them sound better or more sophisticated. Let God be God, and we’ll have no trouble understanding what he tells us. Read the rest of this entry »

The Millennium and Binding Satan

2009-02-04 Tube advert, There's Probably No Go...

If the Millennium represents the Day of the Lord as I claimed in my previous blog, and the Day of the Lord represents the time of judgment between the Lord’s ascension and his return to this earth, one may ask, “Isn’t Satan bound at the beginning of the Millennium? How can there be so much evil today if he is already bound and not troubling man?” I hope to answer this question in this study; nevertheless, we need to understand that we have three enemies: the world, the flesh and the devil (Ephesians 2:2). Does the Millennium Last for 1000 Years?

Six times the phrase a thousand years is mentioned in Revelation 20:1-9. The Scriptures refer to only two other separate references to a period of one thousand years, but I have never seen where these Scriptures were ever taken into consideration when devising a doctrine about the Millennium. What Is The Wrath of God

If you could imagine the wrath of God occurring at this moment, what do you believe it would it look like? Would it be earthquakes and fire engulfing and destroying the earth as we know it? If you were to imagine God executing his wrath upon unbelievers, what would you see? When does God’s wrath occur and upon whom is it coming? Does it come upon unbelievers only or does it also come upon God’s people, too? Is it possible to know for certain what it is? I believe we could not only have a general idea, but many of us have experienced it, and it is occurring all around us today! Read the rest of this entry »
