The Apocalypse and the 70 Weeks Prophecy

Daniel's 70 Weeks Prophecy

from Google Images

Before beginning my study of the Apocalypse, I think I need to mention my understanding of Daniel’s Seventy Weeks Prophecy. Because, unless one is able to see that Daniel and the writer of the Apocalypse agree on when Jerusalem and the Temple were to be destroyed, the Bible student simply cannot hope to be accurate in his understanding of either book. The First to Die for Christ

Stephen’s death (Acts 7:51-60) is probably the most significant chapter in the life of the Church since Pentecost. He is the first believer whose blood was shed in Jesus name, and I don’t believe its significance is fully appreciated in the Church today. It may come as a surprise to know that he was probably stoned on the Day of Atonement 3 ½ years after Jesus’ crucifixion and comes at the culmination of the second half of the 70th week of Daniels 70 Weeks Prophecy. The first half of that week incorporated Jesus’ public ministry which ended in his crucifixion in the “midst of the week” (cp. Daniel 9:26-27). Both halves equal 7 years or the 70th Week beginning on the Feast of Trumpets in 27 CE and ending on the Day of Atonement or 10th day of the seventh month in 34 CE. Read the rest of this entry »

Fixing the Date of Stephen’s Death

Fixing Stephen’s death (Acts 7:51-60) to an exact day involves using prophecy, which, if true, will offer not only an element of certainty to this study but also place a great degree of importance of his death. That is, Stephen’s death would have a particular significance for the new body of believers and for time of the coming of the Kingdom of God. As I hope to show, Stephen’s death is tied up in the 70 Weeks Prophecy of Daniel 9. Daniel’s prophecy identifies the Messiah. Daniel points to him and, beyond all doubt, identifies Jesus as the long awaited Son of David, the Anointed of God.[1] Read the rest of this entry »

The 70 Weeks Prophecy and the 1290 DAYS

from Google Images

from Google Images

The second half of Daniel’s Seventy Weeks Prophecy is represented in 1290 days of Daniel 12:11. This time period begins when “the daily sacrifice is taken away” giving placement to “the abomination that makes desolate.” That is, taking the daily sacrifice away and placing the abomination that makes desolate in its stead is one complete event, and there will be 1290 days after this event, and at that time the 70 Weeks Prophecy would be fulfilled. This would also be the time when the Old Covenant ended and the New Covenant would be fully established with the parousia (G3952) or coming of Jesus as the Messiah. It would also be the time of the resurrection of the dead and of the Great White Throne Judgment.[1] Read the rest of this entry »

The Significance of Stephen’s Death!

70 Weeks Prophecy.- 2jpg

Stephen was one of the “Seven” (Acts 6:3, 5) that were anointed for their labor in the word of God and the leadership of the Grecian Jewish believers who resettled in Jerusalem. Apparently he was a very outspoken believer, testifying and proving that Jesus was the Messiah (Acts 6:9-10). It should be noted that he got himself into trouble, because those who opposed him couldn’t refute his testimony, just as was the case of Jesus during his ministry. It should also be understood that false witnesses were used to testify against Stephen, just as it was concerning Jesus when he was brought before the Sanhedrin. These similarities are not coincidences. This was the first time blood was shed among the believers since the crucifixion.[1] Read the rest of this entry »
