The Gospel of John
I have always liked the Gospel of John, even as a child it sounded so poetic to my ears, whenever it was read during worship services. I especially liked its prologue, and I wept the first time I read the account of Jesus’ sufferings and crucifixion. It has a story to tell that the other narratives don’t tell in quite the same manner. While the Synoptics deal with Christ more like an historical figure, John deals with him more like a spiritual figure. That is, the Gospel of John is more deeply a spiritual Gospel, than the Synoptics. While the whole of the New Covenant text deals in matters that are spiritual, John, in my opinion, exceeds them all on that account. It tells us why we seem so unable to understand the scriptures, and why the Spirit of God is needed, if we are going to understand what God tells us in them.
I really enjoyed this study, and, perhaps more than any other study to date, it affected my understanding of God and how I need to walk with him. It is my sincere hope that something similar occurs to all who come here to read and study the word of God, as given in the New Covenant text.
