The Jesus Style
Way back in the 80s I was listening to a Christian Radio program out of Philadelphia. It was called the Let’s Talk About Jesus program hosted by Rev. Wayne Monbleau. When I first began listening I said to myself: “Yeah, right! No one wants to talk about Jesus!” Well, I was pleasantly surprised, and I listened faithfully during my lunch hour at work for several years. Anyway, I believe it was Wayne who introduced me to the book: The Jesus Style by Gayle Erwin. I can’t imagine myself picking the book up without it being recommended by someone I trusted. Back in those days I was fresh out of a cult and bitter. I trusted no one in Christianity but Wayne. God worked through him to bring me back and at least give church another try.
Anyway, I did read the book and found myself challenged, pleasantly so. It presents Jesus in a manner that I wasn’t used to seeing him. And, this is what I would like to blog about next. Below you will find my blog-posts, thoughts really, about Jesus derived from Gayle Erwin’s wonderful book. I hope I don’t detract from Gayle’s theme or wander into complicated issues that point away from Jesus, because The Jesus Style doesn’t do that. It just presents Jesus to us in the flesh, so that we could almost reach out and touch God, or be touched by him. I hope you will take this journey with me, but, those who do, please understand that everything I say, may not be the conclusion of the The Jesus Style’s author, Gayle Erwin. These are my thoughts about his book after all, so, although I hope we would agree on most things (otherwise I missed the point of his book),we may not agree on every conclusion I draw. Lord bless all who read.

Apart from the Bible, this book has probably shaped my way of thinking more than any other. If you haven’t checked out his video teachings on these subjects, you can find them at http://www.servant.org

Hi Pastor Mike, and thank you for reading my blog and for the video link. I did really enjoy reading and rereading the Jesus Style, and, of course, blogging about it. It is nice to meet someone else who not only read the book but enjoyed it at least as much as I did. Lord bless you.
