The Judgment of the Just and the Unjust

In Revelation 20:12-13 John tells us that he saw “the dead, small and great, stand before God” or, in other words, John saw the resurrection of the just and the unjust take place (Acts 24:15). This would be one resurrection, not two. The first group that were resurrected were the just (Revelation 20:12), meaning the righteous, and they were judged out of the books. That is, they were judged by what is written in the Scriptures. Paul claimed in Romans 2:12, “…as many as have sinned in the law shall be judged by the law.” The saints under both covenants will be judged by what was written in the word of God, not in the letter, but in the spirit (2Corinthians 3:6), and that according to their works, meaning, how they interpreted God’s word and applied it in their lives (Matthew 22:37-40).
